Jurassic 5 were keepers of the flame. They championed positivity and social consciousness when rap was glamorizing the thug-life and bling materialism of Gangsters. Blessed with the tight vocal interplay of their four emcees, Chali 2na, Zaakir, Akil and Marc 7, and the omnivorous rhythmic deliveries of Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark they evoked the sound and values of the Golden age of Hip-Hop, earning them a loyal fanbase and critical acclaim across the globe.
That band had not existed in seven years.
For seven years they had matured as solo artists. For seven years they had moved beyond music and explored other medium and modes of expression. For seven years… they had moved forward.
Getting back to the “Playground tactics” that lit up the scene, Jurassic 5 were one of the most the electric live acts in Hip-Hop and now the loyal and the newly indoctrinated will get to see them burn the down the stage.
